According to Living Water International, 1.1 billion of the poorest people in our world lack safe drinking water. Being aware of the needs in our world, and acting on those needs, the Sisters of St. Francis’ Sister Water Committee has created a Sister Water Ripple Effect 2016 Lenten calendar.

The focus of this Lenten calendar is to create awareness of and provide education on water issues while raising funds for the Sister Water Project, which is our initiative to help provide sustainable water accessibility to people in Honduras and Tanzania.  Each day of Lent, beginning with Ash Wednesday on February 10, through Easter Sunday, March 27, the calendar provides information on safe drinking water and facts on water consumption and also offers fun and thought provoking challenges for individuals to collect donations for the Sister Water Project.  The calendar is free and can be downloaded here. “We invite everyone to print this calendar and use it throughout their 2016 Lenten observance,” said Sr. Kathy Knipper, OSF. “People who do use it will learn water-related facts, tips, or challenges, causing them to think about their own water usage.”
