Sister Mildred (Eloise) Nachtman, OSF, died Monday, June 5, 2023 at the age of 89.

Mildred, daughter of the late Louis and Leona (Greiner) Nachtman, was born July 10, 1933 in Worthington, Iowa. She was baptized at St. Paul, Worthington and confirmed at Immaculate Conception, Hopkinton, Iowa. On August 25, 1951 she entered the Sisters of St. Francis in Dubuque and was received with the name Sister Mary Eloise on August 12, 1952. Sister Mildred made her final profession of vows on August 10, 1957.

Sister received her masters degree from Clarke College, Dubuque. She ministered as a teacher in Iowa at Remsen, Sacred Heart, Sioux City, Pocahontas, and Luxemburg. Missions in Illinois included Midlothian and Crescent City in California.

She is survived by her sister Edith Schwers; Brother Arthur (Marge) Nachtman; Sister-in-law Caroline Nachtman; nieces, nephews, and her Franciscan sisters.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Ester (Robert) Linden, Sr. Loretta Nachtman, OSF, and Anita and Rosella who died in infancy; and brothers Harold (Lynne) Nachtman and John Nachtman.
