Siter Veronica (Cheryl) Bagenstos, OSF, died Monday, November 23, 2020 at the age of 72.

A private Rite of Final Commendation will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the OSF Natural Burial Site. A private Celebration of Life will be held at the Clare House Chapel, Mount St. Francis Center at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2020.

Cheryl, daughter of the late Lloyd and Joyce (Major) Bagenstos, was born May 11, 1948 in Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire, England. She was baptized at Barrow-in-Furness and confirmed at St. Joseph’s, Birkdale, Southport, Lancashire. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis in Dubuque from Our Lady of Good Consel, Holstein, IA on August 22, 1972. She was received with the name Sister Veronica on December 22, 1973 and made her final profession of vows on October 13, 1979.

Brief Personal Information: Sister received her BSN degree at Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska. She ministered as a nurse in Hiawassee, Georgia; Murphy, North Carolina; Chinle, Arizona; Durango, Colorado. In Iowa she ministered in Clinton, Des Moines, Carmelite Monastery, Eldridge, and at Holy Family Hall, Mount St. Francis Center, Dubuque.

Sister is survived by her sister, Nila Bendkowska, and her Franciscan sisters.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents.
