Sister Water Project Committee Creates Lenten Calendar

SWPLentenCalendar2019 1

According to Living Water International, 1.1 billion of the poorest people in our world lack safe drinking water. Being aware of the needs in our world, and acting on those needs, the Sisters of St. Francis’ Sister Water Project Committee has created a Sister Water Ripple Effect 2019 Lenten calendar.

The focus of this Lenten calendar is to create awareness of and provide education on water issues while raising funds for the Sister Water Project, which is the Dubuque Franciscans’ initiative to help provide sustainable water accessibility to people in Honduras and Tanzania.  Each day of Lent, beginning with Ash Wednesday on March 6, through Easter on Sunday, April 21, the calendar provides information on safe drinking water and facts on water consumption. It also offers fun and thought provoking challenges for individuals to collect donations for the Sister Water Project. The calendar is free and can be downloaded from the Sister Water Project website at https://www.osfdbq.org/sister-water-project-main/lenten-calendar/.

“We invite everyone to use this calendar throughout their 2019 Lenten observance,” said Sister Kathy Knipper, OSF. “We hope the calendar helps others come to know and understand their own water usage.”
