Sisters Co-sponsor Film in DBQ January 18

IAmStillHere

On January 18, the award-winning film, I AM STILL HERE, will be screened at the National River Museum and Aquarium’s 4D Theater. The film focuses on a deception that leads to abduction and descent into sex slavery, all hidden in an ordinary neighborhood. The film won the Audience Choice Award at the 2017 Julien Dubuque International Film Festival. The public is welcome; please note given the subject matter, this film is not appropriate for all ages.

This movie is being brought back to Dubuque for a special screening through a partnership between the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival, the Tri-State Coalition Against Human Trafficking, and Set Free Dubuque in observance of January’s National Human Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.

Following the screening, a Q&A will feature the film’s director Mischa Marcus and Celine Villongco, the Human Trafficking Statewide Coordinator at the Iowa Attorney General’s Office. Police Chief Mark Dalsing and local human trafficking experts will also participate on the panel.  The event will begin with lite appetizers at 6:00 PM.  The screening will begin at 6:30 PM with a Q&A to follow.

“I Am Still Here” shows some of the difficulties in combating the fastest-growing illegal enterprise in the world: the child sex-slave industry.  Starring Johnny Rey Diaz (Hawaii Five-O), Erika Ringor (Love and Basketball), and Ciara Jiana (Sharknado), this movie is based on exhaustive research into real cases, and is dedicated to all the missing children who are still out there.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and can be purchased through the julienfilmfest.com website or at the door.
