Sister Beverly Eichler, OSF

Sister Beverly (Owen) Eichler, OSF, died Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the age of 90.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Clare House Chapel, Mount St. Francis Center at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2023. Masks are optional. Beverly, daughter of the late Emmett and Mary (Bollard) Eichler, was born July 7, 1932 in Pocahontas, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Columbkille, Varina, Iowa. On August 25, 1951 she entered the Sisters of St. Francis in Dubuque and was received with the name Sister Mary Owen on August 12, 1952. Sister Bev made her final profession of vows on August 10, 1957.

Sister received her masters degree from Clarke College, Dubuque. She ministered as a teacher in Iowa at Alton, St. Mary and St. Edward, Waterloo, and Oyens. Other missions included Eugene, Oregon, St. Mary of the Woods, Chicago, Illinois, and St. Patrick and St. Gabriel in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Sister Bev also ministered at Mount St. Francis Center in Dubuque as a sacristan before retiring in 2007.

Sister is survived by her nephews and her Franciscan sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Lucy Lunsford.
